Christian Formation

One of the responsibilities of the church is to provide opportunities for its members to be formed in their faith.  This is a life-long process.  We are formed by our interaction with scripture, by prayer and reflection, by learning together, by the culture around us and by our experiences.  Saint Catherine’s offers regular programs to explore scripture and to engage with culture through our book group.  We also offer other programs on an occasional basis.  Check back here for updates on our offerings.

EfM

Saint Catherine's participates in the Education for Ministry (EfM) program, which is a four-year, part-time study program in theology for both lay people and clergy. It is designed to help people to think theologically, develop a personal systematic theology and increase their knowledge of the scripture, history and traditions of the church.

Monthly Bible Discussion

Each week, passages from scripture are read during worship.  There’s a sermon that is supposed to address the scripture and connect to it - but what about questions, or points of detail?

Once each month we gather to air some of these questions by looking at a selection of readings in an informal setting - a relaxed kind of Bible study.  As someone once said, the only stupid questions are the ones we don’t ask.  Come and ask your questions and join our discussion.

In 2012, we will be exploring the gospel of John.

Fourth Thursday of each month (except July and November) at 7:30 pm.

On The Mystery

Part of "Tuesdays at 2211" - a shared program of Saint Catherine's and Trinity United Church.  Based upon Catherine Keller's book, "On The Mystery: Discerning Divinity In Process."  Continues January 2012.

Every Tuesday starting with soup supper at 6:00 pm.

Community Book Group

Our book group is open to all, and our reading material is very eclectic!  Come to the July meeting to help to choose books for the next year.

Third Thursday of each month (except August) at 7:30 pm.
